Marcus Rashford's campaign to end child food poverty is supported by Hebden Royd. At the Full Council meeting, the Town Council unanimously passed a motion formally supporting Marcus Rashford's campaign to end child food poverty. The motion requests that the government expand and increase the value of the Healthy Start Scheme, as well as expand access to Free School Meals, which provide meals and activities during the summer vacation to prevent holiday hunger. The Hebden Bridge Disability Access Forum, a working group of Hebden Royd Town Council, will hold its next regular meeting on Monday, November 16th, at 3pm via Zoom video link. The meeting will concentrate on mental health issues. Hebden Royd will hold a Remembrance Sunday. We regret to inform you that the traditional Remembrance Sunday memorial events in Mytholmroyd and Hebden Bridge will not be held due to social distancing guidelines and other COVID-19 lockdown restrictions.

Coronavirus Update

Coronavirus Update from Calderdale Council: England Lockdown: The entire country of England will be subject to new restrictions beginning on Thursday, November 5th. Once approved by parliament, the new national restrictions are expected to last until December 2nd. Banners for lampposts Hebden Royd Town Council provided funding to promote the Loyal to Local Scheme. Hebden Bridge Business Forum and Hebden Royd Town Council collaborated to create promotional banners in Hebden Royd to help raise the profile of the Loyal to Local scheme in high-traffic areas.

Calder Community Cares

Calder Community Cares launches Winter Community Plan with HRTC assistance. Calder Community Cares has launched a Winter Community Plan, thanks to £5000 in funding from Hebden Royd Town Council and donations from the Community Foundation for Calderdale and the Co-op. Residents of Hebden Royd are invited to participate in an age-friendly survey to help make the community a great place to grow old. Earlier this year, Hebden Royd Town Council agreed to work toward becoming an Age Friendly Council.

Kenneth Kaberry

Kenneth Kaberry and Fred Barker Awards are presented to Hebden Royd schools. Cllr Val Stevens, Mayor of Hebden Royd, has recorded a video to present the Kenneth Kaberry award to students from seven Hebden Royd primary schools. Hebden Bridge Picture House Donates to Todmorden Food Bank: Since the Picture House's temporary closure in March, it has been holding large amounts of non-perishable goods from the kiosk, which have now been donated to Todmorden Food Bank and Drop-In.

General News

Robin Dixon is remembered by councilors. At last night's Full Council meeting, Hebden Royd Town Councillors remembered their former colleague and friend Robin Dixon with fond memories.

Following the government's announcement today that Calderdale was placed in tier 3 (and thus defined as a'very high risk' area in terms of Covid-19 infection rates), Hebden Bridge Picture House (HBPH) will remain temporarily closed until further notice. Under the new rules, which take effect as the national lockdown ends, cinemas are not permitted to operate in tier 3 areas. Lottie Cliffe, a 7-year-old from Hebden Bridge, wrote a letter to Hebden Royd Town Council Mayor Cllr Val Stevens, expressing her concern about the amount of litter in Calder Holmes Park, Hebden Bridge.
